It was another insightful service at church today, still learning about Faith.
The key learning from the sermon is for us to have a balanced perspective to faith. Not being stereotypical or embracing a single side to Faith.
Yes, we would face fears, but our Faith must be bigger than our fears.
This sermons builds on from last week's, where we talked about Prophetic Faith and the motive + context.of Faith.
If I were.to sum up last week's and this week's sermon in one sentence, it would be:
True Faith is prophetic, prophecy can seem good or bad, but it's still the God kind of Faith.
Let's see some illustration, David and Joseph.
Both men were carried by prophecy, backed by God but their path to fufilling destiny were very different.
David, a shepard boy, living a normal life was visited at home, to be anointed for royalty. He was not even regarded initially. He had no dream, no vision. It was an easy ride.to the throne for him.
Joseph had a dream and that was the beginning of his problems. He was hated, he was thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, put in prison. It was tough for him.
Now if you knew both men during their times, by human assessment you will not regards Joseph. If you knew him, you will think he was cursed to have such "bad luck" before things turned around.
The fact remains that God was at work in both men's lives.
Romans 8v28 And we know all things works together for the good of those who love God and called according to His purpose.
Another example ...
Abraham and Sarah. ref Hebrew 11
- Heb 11v11 - By Faith Sarah received strength to conceive Isaac in her old age. (Such Good news 💃💃)
- Heb 11v17 - Still by the same Faith, Abraham was ready to offer up in sacrifice, his only son, that he waited so long to get. (Lol.. No pls 😔) but not Abraham.
Bottom line of the gist is:
We can do great things by Faith in the name of Jesus and we can also experience tough times by Faith in the name.of Jesus.
See more of my takeways below
1. Faith is anything you do in the name of Jesus
2. You handle Fear better when you mind expects it.
3. Heb 11 is a charge on endurance and patient as opposed to the popular "Now faith" handpicked from Heb 11v1. Heb 10 and Heb 12 give.more.context.
4. If your perspective of Faith does not accommodate pain, it is not complete.
5. It is important for us to see God when he is not very obvious.
Of course my notes don't do justice, watch the full sermon below
